Entry Details: Help Your Care Circle Get In If Needed | MyDailyCheck

Entry details: helping your Care Circle get in

If someone comes to check on you and you cannot get to the door, they need to know how to get in. What to share with your Care Circle, and how to share it.

The short version

  • Our alerts tell your Care Circle that a check-in was missed. They do not include your address or how to get in.
  • So share those details with your Care Circle yourself, ahead of time.
  • Cover the basics: your address, who has a key, which door, any alarm or pet.
  • A short text or a note works. We have a template below you can copy.

Why this matters

When a check-in is missed, someone in your Care Circle comes to check on you. If you are fine, great. But if you have had a fall and can't get to the door, they need a way in. Knowing that ahead of time can save a lot of worry, and sometimes a lot of time.

What our alerts include today

Our alert says your name and that you missed your check-in. It doesn't include your address, your entry details, or any medical information. That means your Care Circle needs to know those things already.

What to share

  • Your address, including a unit or buzzer number.
  • Who has a spare key, and how to reach them.
  • Which door to use, and anything tricky about it.
  • Alarm codes, if you have a security system.
  • Pets, like a dog who might be upset by a stranger.
  • Where you are likely to be, for example your bedroom is upstairs.
  • Family to call, and your doctor if relevant.

A message you can copy

Send this to each person in your Care Circle by text or email, or print it for them. Change the details to match your home.

“Thanks for being in my Care Circle. If MyDailyCheck ever tells you I've missed my check-in, here's what you need. My address is 12 Maple Street. Sam next door has a spare key (555-0100). Use the back door. There's no alarm. My cat may run out, so close the door behind you. If you find me hurt, please call 911 first, then call my son at 555-0123.”

Keep sensitive details to people you trust

Alarm codes and where a key is kept are private. Only share them with the people who would actually come to your door.

If you don't have a key holder yet

It is worth setting one up. Our guide to giving a neighbour a spare key walks through choosing someone, where to keep a spare, and what to agree on.
