Missed your check-in? Here is what to do
Missing a call is normal. We try again, and if you have a cell phone you can text OK to check in late. Here is what happens and how to let everyone know you are fine.

The short version
- Missing a call is normal. We try again a few more times before anyone is contacted.
- Answer the next try and press 1. Or, on a cell phone, text OK to 226-406-8446.
- A late text still counts, even after your Care Circle has been contacted.
- Texting before your check-in time doesn't count yet. Wait until the call or text arrives.
- If your Care Circle was contacted, give them a quick call. We don't send them an all-clear.
What happens when you miss a call
Nobody panics. We wait a few minutes and try again. If you have a cell phone, the tries take turns between a call and a text, so one of them is likely to reach you. A home phone gets calls only.
How many tries, and how far apart, depends on the care level chosen when your check-ins were set up:
- Light: 3 tries, 20 minutes apart. Your Care Circle hears from us after about an hour.
- Moderate: 4 tries, 10 minutes apart. Your Care Circle hears from us after about 40 minutes.
- High: 3 tries, 5 minutes apart. Your Care Circle hears from us after about 15 minutes.
These can be adjusted in your settings. After the last try, we start contacting your Care Circle, one person at a time. See what happens if they don't answer for the full picture.
How to check in late
You have two easy ways:
- Answer the next call and press 1. You don't need to listen to the whole message.
- Send a text (cell phones only) to 226-406-8446 that says OK. You can also send 1, YES, GOOD or FINE.
A late text works any time after your check-in has started, even if your Care Circle has already been contacted. As soon as it arrives, your check-in is marked as done and the alert stops.
Calling back does not count
If you see a missed call from 226-406-8446, calling it back won't record your check-in. Text OK instead, or wait for the next try.
Texting before your check-in time
Right now, a text only counts once your check-in for the day has started. If you text OK earlier, we'll reply that there is no check-in open yet, and your call will still come at the usual time. Going out before your check-in? See picking your check-in time for ideas, or pause check-ins for the day.
If your Care Circle was already contacted
When you check in late, the alert stops, so nobody else is contacted. But we don't send the people who already heard from us a message saying you're fine. Give them a quick call or text so they aren't left wondering.
If one of them checks on you and replies OK to our alert, the alert stops too, and the person who manages your account is told.
Voicemail and busy lines
If your voicemail picks up, or your line is busy because you are on another call, that counts as no answer. We simply try again at the next step.
If you need help
On a call, press 3. You can leave a short message, and we start contacting your Care Circle. By text, reply HELP. In an emergency, always call 911 directly. MyDailyCheck never calls 911 for you.
Common questions
I missed my check-in. Can I still check in?
Yes. Answer the next call and press 1, or text OK to 226-406-8446 from a cell phone. A late text counts even after your Care Circle has been contacted.
What's the difference between pressing 2 on a call and texting 2?
On a call, 2 means "not feeling great". It counts as checking in and nobody is alerted. In a text, 2 means HELP, and your Care Circle is contacted. If you are okay, press 1 or text OK.
I'll be out at my usual time. What should I do?
Pause check-ins for the day from the app, or move your check-in to a time you are usually home. See picking your check-in time.
